This lot consists of a hand drawn mixed media (graphite and pastel) drawing on wove paper, done in the style of master impressionist Edgar Degas (French, 1834 -1917). "Degas" is hand written at lower right. Image depicts a ballerina performing a dance step. The ballerina stares ahead intently with a look of determination, or perhaps concern? This deep, expressive drawing is typical of the work for which Degas is so well known. Unframed work measures approximately 13"x 9.75".

His birthplace and boyhood home was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000. It is now operated as the Edward Hopper House Art Center. It serves as a nonprofit community cultural center featuring exhibitions, workshops, lectures, performances, and special events.
