This lot consists of an oil on canvas, rendered in the style of portrait painter Albert Lynch (Peruvian, 1851 - 1912). "Albert Lynch" is hand written at center right. Image depicts a portrait of a woman dressed in period Victorian garb. The artist masterfully uses delicate brushstrokes and light to draw the viewer into the woman's eyes. This painting is a testament to the raw talent for which Lynch is so well known. Overall frame measures 23" x 17" / Image sight measures 17.5" x 11".

Albert Lynch was born in 1851 in Trujillo, Peru. He settled in Paris, where he studied at l' Ecole des Beaux-Arts. Lynch worked under the guidance of painters Jules Achille Noel, Gabriel Ferrier and Henri Lehmann. He showed his artwork in the Salon in 1890 and 1892 and in the Exposition Universelle of 1900 during which he received a gold medal.

The women of his time were his favorite subject to paint and he preferred pastel, gouache and watercolor although he occasionally worked in the oil technique. His work maintained the spirit of the Belle Epoque. He illustrated such books as Lady of the Camellias by Alexandre Dumas, fils, Le Pere Goriot by Honore de Balzac and La Parisienne by Henry Becque.

Painting is in overall excellent condition. White fuzz/remnants of packing material are stuck to the painting (near the signature and under the flower in her hair). "Fuzz" can be removed with a light cleaning. Overall image and signature are bold, crisp and solid.
