This lot consists of hand drawn mixed media abstraction on paper, rendered in the abstract expressionist style of modern artist Wassily Kandinsky (Russian, 1866 -1944). The monogram "K" and date "24" are hand written. Shapes, lines and swirls come together to give the work a vivid sense of kinetic energy. A nice example of the talent for which Kandinsky is so well known. Unframed piece measures approximately 13.5" x 10".

Wassily Wassilyevich Kandinsky (Russian, 16 December 1866 – 13 December 1944) was a Russian painter and art theorist. Kandinsky is generally credited as the pioneer of abstract art. Born in Moscow, Kandinsky spent his childhood in Odessa, where he graduated at Grekov Odessa Art school. He enrolled at the University of Moscow, studying law and economics. Successful in his profession—he was offered a professorship (chair of Roman Law) at the University of Dorpat—Kandinsky began painting studies (life-drawing, sketching and anatomy) at the age of 30.
