This lot consists of a hand-painted oil on canvas, rendered in the modern style of surrealist Max Ernst (German, 1891-1976). "Max Ernst" is hand written by the artist at lower right. Image depicts two fantastical creatures, each with human figures and animal heads. A beautiful medley of cool tones and delicate brushwork. Done in the vibrant modern style for which Ernst is so well known. This unframed piece measures approximately 8" x 10".

Piece is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity that provides a wealth of information on the painting's provenance and condition. It concludes with this: "Based on stated provenance, on our knowledge and available information provided and researched to the date of issue, we consider the artwork to be as described in this examination report..."

Overall good condition. Minimal signs of aging (slight crackling has begun to appear). The canvas remains intact, as do the rich colors of this imaginative piece. Please see photos for further examination.
