This is an excellent and highly detailed map of greater London in the later part of the 18th century. London, Westminster and Southward form the central area. The map extends to Windsor and Egham on the west. Much detail is offered as to towns, cities, roads (existing and planned), canals, forests, parks, churches, farms, etc. As is noted on the bottom, borough towns are marked and the market days and distance from London are shown for towns. Only one copy of this map was in an auction in the past decade; however, there are multiple examples of an earlier version of the Bowen map with a similar title. From W. Thornton's History of London &c published by A Hogg.
