Museum Quality Civil War Era Wooden Camp Canteen
c. 1860 Civil War Era, Wooden Camp Style Canteen retaining with its original Leather Strap, Choice Near Mint Virtually "As Made" Condition.
An outstanding original Wooden Canteen which measures about 9" wide x 4.25" deep with 3 metal loops holding its original leather strap. This Canteen has a .5" raised metal spout at top (with replacement cork plug). Two metal strap bands along each side of the outer two edges. Decorative Hand-carved circular designs are located at the center of each side. There is a wonderful natural overall mellow light age patina to the wood. The finest single example we recall having offered. This well preserved example may have been stored and never seen much if any use, thus excellent for any Civil War era collection or militaria display.
