This is an original colorful Hand-painted Reverse Painting on Glass, the Portrait measuring 6.75" x 9.5" of a half-length Portrait of General George Washington in his full Revolutionary War Era military uniform, and wearing his Society of the Cincinnatus Medal with its "Eagle" design attached to his left side coat lapel. His military uniform consisting of a blue tunic with rich gold collar and lapels, seated in a chair, having his famous sword tucked under his left arm. Only minor flaking of the paint, mostly in the outer white painted border area, is of little distraction. It is housed in its original, period simple wooden frame measuring to 9" x 12", with an added decorative gold gilt metal shell American Eagle with Heraldic Shield emblem attached to the center top of the frame. This scarce Reverse Painted Portrait on Glass of George Washington is unsigned and undated as typical, the subject being identified below as "Washington" in fancy script style in the white painted field surrounding his central image.
