Description
"Marin Island No. I, Small Point, Maine", 1926, watercolor on Arches paper laid to board, signed lower right, label verso from the Portland Museum exhibition "Maine Moderns: Art in Seguinland, 1900-1940", 6/4-9/11/2011. Another label from Andre Chenue of Paris, France, another from Shannon's, and a label from Sotheby's. Inscription verso "To J. Meier-Graefe, with cordial greetings, John Marin, (?), Alfred Stieglitz; As a souvenir of the first American trip, Alfred Stieglitz, March 5, 1928, New York, Room 308". Housed in gilt molded frame, matted under UV glass, OS: 22 3/4" x 26 3/4", SS: 13 3/4" x 18". Good condition, not examined out of frame. PROVENANCE: From a private collection, Falmouth, Maine.
