9th-11th century AD. A hollow ceramic vessel with a thick conical nozzle, broad shoulder with incised bands, piriform body with conical base. 886 grams, 14.5cm (5 3/4"). From a private Austrian collection; formerly in a private collection, North London; acquired in the early 1990s; accompanied by an academic paper by military specialist Dr Raffaele D'Amato, date 15 July 2019 and entitled Eastern Roman Empire - Greek Fire Bomb or Hand Grenade (??????? k???????) 9th-11th century AD.
