Rare 1907 Indiana State Fair Civil War Veterans Medallion
1907-Dated Civil War Veterans Commemorative Medallion Pinback, Presented at Indiana State Fair with a Portrait Image and History of Union General P.A. Hackleman (kia), Bronzed Copper, With Original Pin, Choice Extremely Fine.
A rarely encountered Civil War Veteran's Commemorative Medallion presented at Indiana State Fair in 1907. The image and history of Union General Hackleman is on the front of this medallion, the Pin bar is attached at top reading, "Indiana State Fair 1907." General P.A. Hackleman was the only Union General from Indiana killed during the Civil War. The front shows his image and last words, "I am dying, but I die for my country and his name" - killed at the Battle of Corinth, Oct 3rd 1862. In very choice condition, clean and sharp having nice eye appeal.
