Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A fine cast-bronze oil lamp with a rounded central body, protruding shoulder tabs, and a pair of projecting wick spouts, all atop a circular base with concentric rings incised underneath. The central fill hole has a recessed rim meant to hold a lid, and a pair of pierced tabs enable the lamp to be suspended with a rope or thin chain. Lustrous layers of green and brown patina cover the vessel and imbue it with an elegant presentation evocative of ancient Rome. Size: 3.8" L x 1.5" W x 1.375" H (9.7 cm x 3.8 cm x 3.5 cm).

Condition
Original lid missing. Minor nicks and abrasions to wick spouts, body, and base, with light encrustations, otherwise intact and very good. Light earthen deposits as well as nice green and brown patina throughout.
