Description
Three-piece early Victorian beaded silk mourning dress. Funeral attire at the time was generally austere suggesting this garment was owned by a woman of the upper class. Garment includes tailored heavily beaded and boned waistcoat with silk ruffle collar and beaded lace cuffs, embroidered cotton petticoat, and Black silk heavily beaded skirt, all garments have hand stitching details. Waistcoat 20 in neck, 17 in across back, 32 in at natural waist, 16 in from neck to hem, and 16 in arms with 7.5 in lace cuff. Petticoat (meant to wear over corset) 25 in waist, 44 in length. Skirt 31 in waist, 44in front and A55in rear length. Measurements are approximate.
