Note: Beuys considered drawing to be an extension of his thoughts and used printmaking as a way to reproduce his already established iconography. The imagery in his prints reiterates themes he pursued in drawings, with slight modifications. Beuys called his series of prints 'Suites'. Oath Hand is the first suite produced using this model of graphic work. The suite comprises twenty prints that explore the ideas of light and matter, and stasis and movement.
