Group" flat cupboard, attributed to Jacob Sanders School, single-case construction with shaped and dentil-molded cornice, upper case with four fixed shelves with molded fronts, one with spoon openings, two plate rails, one with spoon openings, over two original drawers with cut-nail construction and two panel doors, original peaked apron skirt and bracket feet, undisturbed backboards with rosehead nails, Troy, Montgomery County, North Carolina, 1780-1810, 86 x 49-1/2 x 18-1/2 in. Cornice and dentil molding replaced, vertical stiles flanking open shelves replaced, one door frame with minor cracks, wear and minor repairs to feet, lacking door catches, drawers pulls replaced, panel doors and cornice with some refreshed paint, other surface wear, stains and minor repairs consistent with age and use. Provenance: Pattie Anderson and Mr. H.J. Hoover; Frank L. Horton Collection, Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Illustrated in Elizabeth D.
