NASSER GAMAL ABDEL: (1918-1970) President of Egypt 1952-70. Nasser is widely considered an iconic figure in the Arab world for his social justice and Arab unity. A good T.L.S., `Gamal Abdel Nasser´, one page, 4to, Cairo, 25th December 1954, on his President of the Ministers Council printed stationery, to Signor Sandro Rubboli, in Italian. Nasser thanks his correspondent for the present received, being a book about Maestro Toscanini. Signed in bold blue ink above the typed text ''L[ieutenan]t Colonel Gamal Abdel Nasser''. The present letter was signed only two months after a Muslim brotherhood member attempted to assassinate Nasser while he was delivering a speech broadcast to the Arab world celebrating the British military withdrawal. Accompanied by the original printed stationery post-stamped envelope. EX £300-400
