Scarce map of Texas, Upper California, Mexico, and surrounding areas,. from Greenleaf's Universal Atlas. The maps shows Texas in its early Republic configuration, based in part on Burr's 1833 map of Texas. Located are San Felippe de Austin, San Antonio, La Trinity, Nacadoches, Espada, Lagunilla, Matagordia, and Brazoria, all with the boundary of Texas. The Nueces serves as the southern boundary of Texas. In California, the R. de los Martires is shown, an apochryphal river running from San Luis Rey in North San Diego County to Southern Utah, more or less parallel to the Rio Colorado. The mouth of the Gila is in the Gulf of California. Akropolis or Little Rock is identified, as are Taos, Santa Fe and Paseo del Norte on the Rio Grande. With large inset. Guatemala or the United Provinces of Central America.
