Central Asia, Pakistan and Afghanistan, Gandharan Empire, ca. 200 BCE to 400 CE. A mold-formed terracotta head of a prince, modeled in the traditional Graeco-Buddhist tradition with a full face, fine almond eyes beneath heavy brows, a naturalistic nose, and a sensitive mouth with indented corners. Thick striations denote the drawn-back coiffure, and the neck line is pierced for suspension. Custom wooden display stand included. Size: 2.875" W x 3.5" H (7.3 cm x 8.9 cm); 5.4" H (13.7 cm) on included custom stand.
