Entitled "William Penn's Treaty with the Indians, when he founded the province of Pensylvania (sic) in North America 1681." Published, June 12th. 1775 by John Boydell Engraver in Cheapside London. The copper engraving by John Hall print after the painting by Benjamin West shows William Penn entering into peace treaty with Tamanend, a chief of the Lenape Turtle Clan, in 1683, near the village of Shackamaxon, Pennsylvania. Traditional giltwood frame. Some damage. Frame, approx. 33 1/2" x 26 3/4". Image area, approx. 24" x 18 3/4".
