In the late 19th century about 1899 he went to Europe and spent much of his time in England and France, painting for customers and patrons. In 1900, while in Britain, he painted a fine work of Diamond Jubilee out of Perdita II, who was owned by Edward Prince of Wales. Diamond Jubilee was an English triple crown winner.
