LALANDE, Jérôme (1732-1807) - Voyage d’un françois en Italie fait dans les années 1765-1766. Venice, Paris: Desaint, 1769.
A rare edition which was never auctioned before complete with the atlas. The account of the years 1765 and 1766 was appreciated by Chateaubriand “Le voyage de Lalande est encore ce qu’il y de mieux et de plus exact sur la Rome des arts et sur la Rome antique”. The work, in addition to describing the geographical, historical and economical aspects, also decribes in great detail some of the gastronomic curiosities. Tom 9 of the 1785 edition is sold together with the other volumes and has a chapter dedicated to Italian cheeses.
8 volumes in 8vo (166 x 98mm); atlas in 4to (272 x 223mm). Atlas with 23 plates, several folding our double-page (occasional light staining and browning). Contemporary calf, titles and decorations in gilt on spine label, red edges, silk bookmarks; atlas in contemporary calf decorated in gilt (some rubbing). [Together with:] Tom 9 of the 18786 edition in contemporary calf.

Relazione del viaggio compiuto negli anni 1765 e 1766 molto apprezzata all’epoca da Chateaubriand “Le voyage de Lalande est encore ce qu’il y de mieux et de plus exact sur la Rome des arts et sur la Rome antique”. L’opera oltre a dettagliare gli aspetti geografici, storici e economici segnala anche molte curiosità gastronomiche. A riguardo si aggiunge il tomo 9° dell’edizione del 1786 con un intero capitolo che tratta dei formaggi d’Italia dove vengono citati il modo di preparazione, la stagionatura e altro.
8 volumi in 8vo (166 x 98mm); atlante in 4to (272 x 223mm). Atlante composto da 23 tavole, molte a doppia pagina o ripiegate (lievi sporadiche macchie o bruniture). Legatura coeva in pieno cuoio a bazzana, titolo e decori in oro su tassello al dorso, tagli rossi, segnalibri in seta; Legatura dell’atlante coeva con dorso in cuoio decorato in oro (qualche segno d'usura). SI AGGIUNGE: tomo nono dell'edizione del 1786 in legatura coeva in pieno cuoio dorso e titolo in oro (10).
