Book Details: This complete three-volume set is bound in brown cloth and leather with raised spine bands and gilt spine lettering. These volumes are profusely illustrated with tissue-guarded engraved plates, including portraits, views, after historical paintings, maps, etc.

George Washington (22 February 1732 – 14 December 1799) was one of the Founding Fathers of the United States of America and served as the nation's first President (1789–1797). He commanded Patriot forces in the new nation's vital American Revolutionary War and led them to victory over the British. Washington also presided at the Constitutional Convention of 1787, which established the new federal government. For his manifold leadership he has been called the "Father of His Country".
Condition / Notes: These antique volumes show very well, with minimal indications of age and wear, including shelfwear and rubbing. Hinges are slightly loose, however the bindings and text blocks remain firm. Text and illustrations are clear and crisp through mild/moderate age toning/foxing. There is a handwritten name and address by a previous owner on the front free endpaper of each volume.
