Original 1957 Dartmouth Winter Carnival Lithograph by Roger C. Mc Alister. Winter Carnival Dartmouth Feb 8-10, 1957 ,Offset Lithograph, Approximate Size: 34 x 22. Printer: Lithograph in USA Winthrop Printing & Offset Co., Boston 27, Mass. Thought to be by Roger C. Mc Alister, Dartmouth Class of 1951, signed illegibly Condition: Various tape marks discoloration showing through from reverse to sides and lower corners, slight creases through and small portion of upper left missing. Winter Carnival is a long-standing tradition at Dartmouth College that was particularly famous during the 1920s, 1930s,1940s and 1950’s The Dartmouth Outing Club, founded in 1909, organized a winter weekend "field day" in 1910. This was an athletic event centered on skiing, a sport which the Outing Club helped to pioneer and publicize on a national scale. In 1911.
