Pre-Columbian, Ecuador, Manabi culture, ca. 500 BCE and 500 CE. A beautiful necklace comprised of twenty-one terracotta spindle whorls, each decorated with incised artwork depicting stylized geometric and zoomorphic motifs; they are strung on a modern oxidized sterling silver chain in a balanced, symmetrical arrangment, creating a long chain studded with beads that can be worn hanging or wrapped to create a double-stranded necklace. Size of largest pendant: 0.6" W (1.5 cm); length of chain: 48" L (121.9 cm)
