Words and music read "Hark to the trumpet rashly calling it percies the soft summers air / tears from the Zouaves were falling for the proud gallant Ellsworth was there / with bayonets southward returning the drums muffled breath rolls along he / hears not that cry of the mourning nor awakes to the bugle sound." Elmer E. Ellsworth (1837 - 1861) was the first Union officer to die in the American Civil War. Ellsworth was a close personal friend of Abraham Lincoln. MEASUREMENTS: 8" x 7-1/2". CONDITION: Fragment. Even overall toning.
