Notes & Literature Mary Crawford Murray Hyde was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the New York Genealogical and Biographical Society and a contributor to The New Jersey Coast in Three Centuries (The Lewis Publishing Company, 1902)
Mary Hyde (1855-1936) was born in New Jersey to George Crawford Murray and Mary Catherine Cooper. She married Dr. Ovid Allen Hyde of Brooklyn in 1887 and the couple had one son, Chester Ovid Hyde, in 1888. Hyde undertook genealogical research on the different branches of her family in order to gain admittance to the Daughters of the American Revolution, and to procure membership in the Children of the American Revolution for her son. She traced her lineage to her great-grandfather, Joseph Murray, who served in the Monmouth County militia.
