Set of Six English Chippendale Mahogany Dining Chairs

circa 1860, shaped crest rail, pierced splat with lower ribbon cross, later black leather overupholstery with brass nail head trim, open knee returns, front straight molded legs with inside chamfer, stretcher base.

Accompanying this lot is a copy of a letter from their purchase at W. & J. Sloane, New York reading "The 6 chairs came to us from the collection of Mr. Leonard Knight of London under the auspices of the British Trade Association..." The black leather upholstery was more recently completed by McSwain's of Charlotte, North Carolina.
