Description
A Chinese enameled porcelain footed tazza / fruit bowl, 19th century, Qing Dynasty. The lobed bowl decorated in bright colorful overglaze enamels of famille rose, iron red and famile verte. A center medallion depicts grasshoppers and a beetle, surrounded by abundant florals, leaves, vines and flowering branches. The underside decorated with bats and double happiness coins tied with ribbons. The footed pedestal portion decorated with bats and stylized waves of grass. Measures 11.25" wide, 8.75" deep, 3.25" high.
PROVENANCE: Ex. collection of General Joseph Warren Stilwell (1883-1946) via his grandson, son of Winifred Stilwell Cox (daughter of General Stilwell).
