Antique Chinese fragrance ChenXiang wood (Aloes wood) brush pot, in form of asymmetric cylindrical hollow vessel, slightly wider to the opening, in organic tree trunk shaped body. The exterior deftly carved with various levels of relief with continuous scene of pine tree and rock work. The intrigue carving is deep yet smooth, revealed a masterpiece artworks. ChenXiang wood shows golden-honey with dark-brown hued patina. The brush pot displayed upon a hard cushion stand, covered in vermilion-red silk.
The pine tree (song) is a very common symbol for longevity because it is an evergreen and can endure severe winters.
The pine is a member of the Three Friends in Winter.
The pine also symbolizes solitude.
