Ancient Roman Marble Head of a Goddess, probably Venus Roman Empire, circa 1st Century AD.White, fine-crystalline marble carving of idealized beauty with her wavy hair sweptback in a bun. The top of the head is set up to receive a crown. Surface with finepolish. Size 5-1/8 inches (13 cm) H. + block base. Provenance: Ex CollectionProfessor Dr. Günther Marschall, Hamburg (1913 - 1997), acquired between 1967and 1975.
