AMERICAN FRAMED MEDALLION CHINTZ APPLIQUE QUILT, hand-stitched, large center on-point block having center medallion consisting of an oval piece of chintz surrounded by alternating green and red printed fabric border, four triangular blocks around the center, inner border having cut-out chintz fabric alternating with eight-point stars, three borders of red and green printed fabric within the design, diagonal grid, plume wreaths, floral motifs, and straight-line quilting, chintz fabric border with diagonal straight-line quilting arranged in triangular patterns, narrow back-over-front binding, four-paneled plain backing with later applied fabric strip for hanging, all cotton. 1790-1810. 108" x 105 1/2"
