AMERICAN CHINTZ APPLIQUE QUILT TOP, hand-stitched, cut-out pheasant and plum tree chintz fabric applied to a white cotton ground, sawtooth border in green printed chintz, unquilted, later three-paneled plain backing. Possibly South Carolina. 1815-1835. 120" x 122".
Very good overall condition, top with some light toning to front, scattered minor stains/spots, areas of light staining, backing with scattered stains.
Provenance: Property deaccessioned by The Museum of Early Southern Decorative Arts (MESDA), to benefit the collections and acquisitions funds.
