Bernard Lamy was a 17th-century French theologian and mathematician who published treatises on biblical studies and mathematics. One of his most notable works was ‘Introduction to Holy Scriptures’ which was originally titled ‘Apparatus ad Biblia Sacra.’ This work was written to discuss the validity of the Books of Tobias and Judith, which were not included in the biblical canon by the Council of Trent. Lamy also discusses the history of the Hebrew people, the Jewish temple and tabernacle, the Holy Land itself, and the Jewish culture and customs mentioned in the Bible.
This rare 1693 edition features an impressive folding map of the Holy Land and folding charts.
