Description
A rollador is a pre-Columbian grater style, often taking the form of fish, used in and around Tumaco region of Colombia to grate various vegetables. The largest example here has fine detail, large bulging eye, and inset small grating stones across the length. Measures 3.25 x 9.5 inches, and features a fine black metal display stand. Smaller fish form grater is more primitive, featuring recesses instead of applied stones, and shows a professional repair/restoration. Measures 2.5 x 9 inches.
Condition
Large grater features 60% of its original reddish-range pigment, and mild wear overall. Smaller grater shows a definite repair/restoration, visible mostly from the reverse.
