Roman Empire, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 4th century CE. This small gray mold-made terracotta vessel features a raised ring base with a raised central dot, smooth sloping sides, rounded shoulders with raised circular and semi-circular designs, a miniscule tab-shaped thumb rest, a large jagged fill hole with a surrounding raised ring, a narrowing neck with a zipper-like pattern, and a wide wick spout. Size: 3.25" L x 2.25" W x 1.375" H (8.3 cm x 5.7 cm x 3.5 cm).
Provenance: private Orange County, California collection, acquired before 2000

Condition
Possible areas of loss to ring base, fill hole, wick spout, and thumb rest. Surface wear commensurate with age, and minor encrustations and mineral deposits to surface. A small area of adhesive residue remains underneath thumb rest.
