Description
An exquisitely crafted and large Japanese Ando Jubei (1876-1953) studio cloisonne enamel vase. The tapering vase features wire and wireless enamel work depicting koi fish in motion, escaping a fishing net from above. The rim and base in silver. Signed on the underside base with the Ando mark. Measures 14-5/8" high, 7.5" diameter. With the original fitted carved rosewood stand (7.5" diameter, 2" high). Also with wooden presentation case / box having a padded fabric interior. The exterior with calligraphy script. The box measures 18.25" wide, 11.5" deep, 11" high.
CONDITION: no breaks, losses, cracks or repairs. I have attached a photo (the last photo) of the area that feels as if there is an slight depression. It is above the fish near the netting. It is unable to be seen from any angle or the naked eye. It was probably idiotic of me to mention it. If you run your hand around the vase, you can feel a faint depression.
