Description
German Lenzkirch Mantle Clock with Burl Walnut Wood Ormolu: Circa 1900, Black Forest Region, Germany, 8-Day movement with chime. Four bracket feet support a rectangular, burl-wood case with a rounded top. The face is adorned with applied ormolu mounts. The sides of the clock each with a door to access the movement, each door with a velvet panel behind a metal screen with imbrication. Recessed face surrounded by a silvered sight ring has a white dial with black Roman numerals and slow/fast and chime/silent subsidiary dials. These are surrounded by an applied ormolu sun and scrolling foliage. Movement impressed, "Lenzkirch AGU 1 Million 459475." Inclusive of the original pendulum, key and purchase receipt from 1975. Dimensions are: 16 1/2" tall x 13 1/4" wide x 9.25" deep. All measurements are approximate. Condition: Currently running, though not checked for accuracy Provenance: From the clock collection of a world traveled British gentleman. This piece includes the original November 15, 1979 purchase receipt from Lawrence Fine Art of Crewkerne, Somerset United Kingdom.
