LONG ON BERTHA, TO HIS GRACE THE DUKE OF BEAUFORT, K.G. THIS PORTRAIT IS BY PERMISSION RESPECTFULLY BY HIS OBLIGED SERVANTS WM and H BARRAUD.

William (1810-1850) and Henry Barraud (1811-1874) were London born English portrait, subject and animal painters, who collaborated on many works. Captain Henry Charles FitzRoy Somerset, 8th Duke of Beaufort KG (1824-1899), was a British peer, soldier, and politician who served as Master of the Horse of the United Kingdom, a once important position of the household of the sovereign.
