Entitled "Woman and Man in Field" by Bernard Lamotte, (1903-1983,) the lushly colored canvas shows two figures in a landscape, the whole scene full of movement and light. Unsigned. Born in Paris, Lamotte spent most of his adult life in New York. A muralist as well as an easel painter, Lamotte was commissioned by Joseph Kennedy in 1961 to paint a mural for the White House swimming pool. The artist exhibited widely and is represented in museums and public and private collections world wide, including the Tokyo Museum, Luxembourg Museum and Musee d'Art Moderne in Paris.
