ENGLISH SCHOOL (19th Century) A PAINTING, "Portrait of a Gentleman, Identified as James Bentinck Hawkins Whitshed (d. 1813)," oil on canvas, identified verso. 36 3/8" x 28" Provenance: The personal collection of Colonel Frederick Gustavus Burnaby, member of the Royal Horse Guards, a cavalry regiment of the British Army.

Condition

Canvas cut down and now laid to canvas, apparent repairs to tears, some in painting, darkening of paint, craquelure, but overall in fair to good condition, wear commensurate with age.
