**Originally Listed At $500**

Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Jalisco, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A stunning seated terracotta figure with notable features and beautiful construction. A white-painted skirt with both circular and linear designs covers both folded legs, the 'fabric' upon which the figure is resting, with a slight protruding abdomen, perky breasts, and bent arms, one of which is grasping the rim of a petite bowl. Her thick neck displays a three-layered beaded necklace painted in pale yellow, and a flat back supports her oversized head. Characteristic "sheepface" characteristics comprise her visage and consist of pointed ears with bullseye-form earspools, a prominent and pointed nose, ovoid eyes with painted pupils, and a chisel-shaped forehead with a broad headband displaying thin vertical stripes. Covered in an orange hued slip with white and yellow finely painted embellishments, this figure is one of the finest sheepface examples we've ever had the pleasure of presenting! Size: 9.375" H (23.8 cm).
