Description

Great find is this terrific Pitkin glass half post flask. Bottle is shaped on a gather into an oval shape and while still hot, placed in a mold, swirled and placed back in a mold for the ribbed effect. This particular bottle has 36 ribs and was produced in the Pitkin Glass Works, Manchester, CT between the years 1783 - 1830. The glass works was the first successful glass works in CT, and for 25 years, had a monopoly on glass production. This bottle stands approx. 5 1/2" tall and 3 1/4" wide.
