Large Carved Ch'ing-Pai Ware Yuhuchuan Vase. Stoutly potted with a robust pear-shaped body rising to a tapered neck with a flared rim, finely carved in deep relief of a pair phoenix among undulating floral scrolls, all between a register of eight emblems supporting upright leaves encircling the neck and a band of lotus petals enclosing elaborate trefoils around the foot, covered overall with a rich pale blue glaze pooling to a darker blue in the carving, the unglazed base revealing the buff stoneware burnt orange in the firing, 19.5 inch high.
