Description
Pre-Columbian, Costa Rica, ca. 200 to 600 CE. A finely carved tubular greenstone snuff tube, a marvel for its form - overall cylindrical with three ribs near the top. The stone is pale green speckled with tiny black dots. The tube is drilled through longitudinally, with a simple and elegant form. The item was probably used by an ancient shaman to snuff hallucinogenic ground seeds during ritualistic practices. Size: 0.65" W x 4.95" H (1.7 cm x 12.6 cm); 5.15" H (13.1 cm) on included custom stand.
