Your assistance was invaluable and your leadership, I believe, proved decisive in the end. I want to thank you for the time and effort you expended in speaking out as you did on the issues. You made a very effective contribution to our cause, and I am most grateful."
In the March 14, 1972, Republican presidential primary in Florida, Nixon won 87% of the vote with two congressmen, conservative John M. Ashbrook and liberal Paul N. McCloskey, Jr., far behind. Nixon won all 40 Florida delegates to August's Republican National Convention to be held in Miami Beach.
