**First Time At Auction**
Magna Graecia, South Italic Colonies, Apulia, ca. 340 to 325 BCE. A beautiful miniature kylix with a petite ringed foot, tall walls with a thin rim, and a pair of applied handles. The vessel is covered in a jet-black glaze with a pair of horizontal lines on both sides, with a repeating register of S-shaped forms on one half, and a register of V-shaped forms on the other. Xenon ware is a specific type of Apulian pottery, and the style is distinguished by added red decoration over black glaze. Faint areas of silvery and rainbow-hued iridescence area scattered across the interior and exterior of the vessel, making this an attractive example from ancient Apulia! Size: 4" W x 1" H (10.2 cm x 2.5 cm).

Surface wear and minor abrasions commensurate with age, small nicks to rim, foot, body, and handles, with fading to some areas of glazing. Light earthen deposits and root marks throughout.
