Papua New Guinea, ca. early 20th century CE. A tall mocha-hued carved wooden ancestor figure standing naked with her hands placed upon wide hips. She has a large and round head, circular eyes, a large-nostril nose, a thin-lipped smirk, small and perky breasts, a carved circular navel, long legs, and wide feet straddling a central wooden mound. Both hands and one remaining full foot have six fingers and toes, respectively, which is technically both a dominant and recessive genealogical trait among humans. Custom museum-quality stand included. Size: 2.5" L x 4.625" W x 16" H (6.4 cm x 11.7 cm x 40.6 cm); 18.5" H (47 cm) on stand.
Provenance: Ex-Adeon Gallery, Chicago, IL, acquired prior to 1970.
