Pre-Columbian, Peru, Chimu, ca. 1250 to 1450 CE. A lovely blackware mold-made stirrup vessel, with a petite modeled bird to the juncture of the stirrup and spout. The upper walls are mold-pressed with four panels of momma and baby birds - two showing the mother feeding her offspring and two showing a hungry baby bird extending its beak upwards in anticipation of sustenance - against a stippled ground.
