This pair of Asian Golek Wayang Wooden Puppet Dolls have been Professionally Framed. The frames are made shadow box style – with a mat for background and a raised mat producing a 3D effect with the puppets in the center. I have the original framing bill cost and it was over 300.00 in 1984 when these were framed (will be included with puppets). Condition is near mint- I have never seen a better pair. I believe the puppets depict personages from the classic mythology of the "Ramayana" story. They are dressed in traditional batik or resist dye fabric. The wooden puppets are hand held and controlled with the wooden sticks. They have a flat wooden platform base so they can be displayed standing upright. The dolls are in excellent condition and are original and were made some time in the early 1900’s. The dolls measure approximately 27” and 26” tall and 5 ½” wide at shoulders. Shipping will be high since a special box must be constructed to make sure they are not crushed. They make a striking wall art display. They measure 40 ½” x 23 ½” x 5”. Sold as a pair. Difference in color is due to use of flash. The first picture is most like the real color (without flash)
