This sculpture comes under the category of anthropomorphic figurines known by the Lega as " katimbitimbi " which is an insignia of the most senior women of Bwami society. Such sculptures designate the position of kanyawa, a woman of great authority and prestige among the tribe. The sculpture has a white painted kaolin clay face and some incised designs. The statue measures 11 inches tall and has an old textile adorning the neck, possibly it was used to carry the sculpture at one time as a symbol of rank.
