Description
A large Chinese rosewood table screen with mother of pearl inlay and a Chinese famille rose porcelain plaque, both dating from the 19th century. With artist Jin Pinqing's red stamp. The plaque depicts 5 children beside a rooster and a hen with 5 chicks in a landscape beneath a tree with flowers. The frame is inlaid with mother of pearl inserts in the shape of Shou characters and Shou medallions, and the stand is inlaid with mother of pearl flowers and bats. The frame is also carved with lotuses.
Dimensions are: the frame measures 34 inches tall X 22 inches wide; the plaque measures 19 inches tall X 15 inches wide. All measurements are approximate.
Condition: Many of the mother of pearl inserts are broken and some show repairs. One leg of the stand has been glued. The plaque is in good overall condition.
Provenance: From a Chicago estate, mother in law acquired over 40 years ago from a neighbor.
